04:32 - The first takedown Giancarlo goes over from the standing body lock is Uki Goshi (power twist.) Lock hands palm-to-palm or wrist-to-wrist. Step deep with your inside leg, point your toes toward your opponent, and circle while lifting their leg slightly. As you circle, turn your body in the same direction your opponent is facing, which lifts and rotates them. Keep circling until their hand touches the mat. If the opponent keeps the whizzer, keep circling until their back hits the mat, ending in a chest-to-chest half guard where you can start passing. If they remove the whizzer, you’ll often go behind into turtle with chest-to-back connection and your knee behind their knee.

01:32 - There are two types of inside camping: low head and high head. Low head inside camping is when your hips are higher than your head. It’s used when your opponent has long-range frames—like when they push with their knees or post on your shoulders to keep you away. In this case, Gordon uses three grips: one on the near knee to stop the foot from going to the hip, a V-grip on the far ankle, and his head glued to their far shoulder. Eventually, the opponent realizes pushing isn’t working and gets tired. That’s when Gordon switches to high head inside camping, where his head is now higher than his hips and he’s closer to the opponent. The grips he uses when high head inside camping are: a post on the near knee, pulls on the far shoulder, and connects his hip to their tailbone to block butterfly hooks. The idea is to just “camp” on the person—not trying to pass right away, just sitting on their frames and making them work.

The bottom player frees himself from the straight grip so the top player takes a crossface and settles into chest to chest half guard. However, the bottom player denies the pummel so the top player settles into chest to chest half guard.
07:19 - From chest to chest half guard, the bottom player does a great job of not letting the top player take the inside knee position on the near side. The bottom player is able to use a knee lever to recover back to a HQ type position.
07:21 - From HQ, the top player uses a hip switch to threaten the guard pass. The bottom player keeps his knee and elbow connected resulting in an outside camping position at the J-Point with a hip and knee post.
07:50 - The top player is outside camping at the J-Point and the bottom player is putting his foot on his own thigh making it hard for the top player to separate the knee to elbow connection. After a little while, the top player breaks through resulting in a dorsal situation.
