11:03 - When guard passing, we want to get closer to our opponent’s head. One of the best ways of doing this is to take an underhook. From HQ, we can look to take an underhook on the top arm. We want to force the guard player to post on our chest. When they do, we can use a rau drag type motion to take the underhook.

08:21 - When passing a supine guard, you can initiate with a C-Grip leg drag. If the bottom player recovers by bringing their knee down, you can transfer to a hip and knee post. If they recover by bringing their foot to the inside, you can follow up with a cross step or even a cross knee cut towards side control. If you can create a good initial threat with the C-Grip leg drag, it makes it hard for the bottom player to defend the dilemma that follows as they are trying to recover.

02:01 - When the opponent is seated, the passer should use their hands to control what’s in front of them. If the opponent's hands are extended, the passer monitors and hand-fights to prevent grips. If the opponent is lying supine, the passer focuses on managing the legs first to prevent entanglements like De La Riva or X-Guard. If the opponent reaches for the passer’s hands, the elbow connection concept comes into play, where the passer tucks their elbow close to their body, making it difficult for the opponent to strip grips.

01:02:16 - In wrestling, you can attack your opponent's head, body, legs or ankles. We can flow up and down the ladder to continuously threaten our opponent. It is just a matter of knowing what you are not willing to sacrifice when threatening a specific technique. For example, Kyle is not willing to sacrifice shoulder position when doing almost any technique. Therefore, if his shoulder position gets compromised while he is attacking the legs, he will need a transition to follow up with an attack to the body.

All Highlights

01:01:43 - Most of the time when Kyle shoots in for a single leg takedown, if his head position goes down even a little bit, he will let go of the single leg and transition into an underhook or a body lock. Usually when you shoot in for a single leg it gives you angular advantage, so even if the single leg fails, it is a great opportunity to transition up your opponent's body by controlling their upper body.
