00:01 - When trapping arms from the back, we have to use our top leg to trap the arm which means our opponent will go into a turning escape to defend. We will need to use our arms to stop the turning escape so our legs are free to trap the arm. We can do this by either being heavy on the top shoulder or taking the bottom shoulder off the mat.

00:01 - When retaining guard from HQ, the guard passer's arm on the side of our inside leg is going to be responsible for splitting or smashing our legs together to facilitate their guard pass. If we can control their arm on the side of our inside leg, we take away a lot of their offensive options. To control their arm, we can look to grab their wrist, interlock grip, inside bicep tie, ect. If we cannot get a meaningful grip on their arm, we can reach for an underhook on that side. This makes it hard for them to knee cut as our arm is a self frame against the knee cut and buys us time to control their hand. The whole point of this grip fight is to minimize their offensive options until we can properly retain our guard with something like a high leg.

01:44 - Jozef is outside camping with a hip and knee post. As the guard player recovers their bottom leg, Jozef goes into a knee cut and uses a rau drag to complete the guard pass to side control. Notice how Jozef deals with the frames of the bottom player. They are posting on his upper body so Jozef leads with your lower body to knee cut. When doing so Jozef makes sure he gets the far side undertook to prevent the wrestle up, especially since the bottom player has his far leg extended so the high leg is not the threat, it is the wrestle up.
