00:01 - When passing a knee shield half guard, traditionally LIMI would use the weave to smash the guard player's legs together. If the guard player flares their knees, this was LIMI's cue to go under the legs and take a scoop grip because it is easy to get the scoop grip up on your shoulder. However, LIMI watched Kenta do the opposite. Kenta used the weave to split the legs apart instead of smashing the legs together. So when the guard player's knee shield was high, Kenta would use the weave until he got his head inside the knee of the guard player. Now that his head takes over the splitting of the legs, Kenta would remove his weave and pressure forward to drive the defender's knee to their armpit to begin inside camping. If the guard player's knee is low, instead of going into a weave, Kenta used a scoop grip on the leg. The goal of the scoop grip was not to bring the leg up on his shoulder, but to apply reaping pressure to the knee shield leg.

00:01 - When trapping arms from the back, we have to use our top leg to trap the arm which means our opponent will go into a turning escape to defend. We will need to use our arms to stop the turning escape so our legs are free to trap the arm. We can do this by either being heavy on the top shoulder or taking the bottom shoulder off the mat.

59:07 - Alan is attacking from a smashed cross ashi. Colin initiates a roll to the side as he pummels his secondary leg in to create hamstring exposure. Alan tries to skim the leg to trap the secondary leg but it fails so he tries to come forward and control the secondary leg with his hands. However, this frees up Alan to extract his primary leg to escape. Off the escape, Colin immediately goes into offense and completes the guard pass into north south.

All Highlights

50:42 - From a seated open guard, Alan is working hard for a double kouchi to get ahold of a leg. He enters into A1 and begins attacking the legs. Colin rotates to escape but this gives Alan the ability to wrestle up to complete the sweep (leg lock wrestle up dilemma.)
52:49 - Colin is working to loose pass and threatens a leg drag. However, Alan defends by high legging over and getting his high leg inbetween the legs of Colin. This sets up a beautiful cross catch kani basami entry into backside cross ashi. Immediately Alan controls the secondary leg to secure double trouble.
52:56 - Alan is attacking from backside cross ashi with double trouble. He gets heel exposure but Colin is able to slip his heel. Colin then begins to roll and pummel his secondary leg to the inside to create hamstring exposure. He slips his heel again before turning back in the other direction, freeing his knee to escape. Wow this was crazy late stage heel hook defense. Respect to Colin but he comes out looking to be limping so I wonder if he took some damage.
53:32 - Colin is working to pass the seated open guard. He steps in the middle and uses a quick kani basami back step to enter top cross ashi.
53:51 - Colin is attacking from a top cross ashi. He is focused on controlling the secondary leg and Alan uses it as an opportunity to prop up on an elbow and free his primary leg to escape.
55:04 - Colin uses side to side passing against the supine open guard. He goes in one direction holding the outside leg waiting for Alan to invert before he switches sides to pass into north south.
55:13 - Colin is looking to solidify the guard pass in north south. Alan uses a granby roll type motion to escape.
56:31 - Colin uses the same guard pass he used earlier in the match against the supine open guard. He controls the far leg and walks around toward the head waiting for Alan to invert. He then switches direction and completes the guard pass into north south.
57:03 - Alan is being pinned in north south by Colin who has double reverse underhooks. This means that Colin has no control over the head and shoulders so if Alan can force a side control situation he would be more likely to escape. Alan is able to frame on the hips to force side control before high legging over to escape.
