01:55 - LIMI talks about how he likes locking a side body triangle from the back whenever his bottom hook is shallow. The downside of the side body triangle is it can be relatively easy for the defender to clear using a leg assist method. However, it can be a very good form of control to prevent the defender from getting their back to the mat as we work to upgrade to a more robust form of body triangle or secure the back take with our upper body.
02:39 - LIMI says he has been using the side body triangle a lot when he takes the back using a modified chair sit. Typically when doing a modified chair sit it is hard for us as the attacker to get a deep bottom hook in place and it ends up being shallow. When we have a shallow bottom hook, this is the perfect time to lock a side body triangle as we work to upgrade our upper body control to solidify the back take or work into a more robust form of body triangle. LIMI shows that this tends to happen a lot when you are passing the guard with an underhook on one side and a head block on the other. As we work towards mount if the defender turns away from us to expose their back, we take a seatbelt under their bottom arm and go into our modified chair sit to lock a side body triangle.
04:49 - When attacking from the back on the overhook side, the defender can get their back to the mat to escape. When they do, we can lock a side body triangle making it hard for them to get their back to the mat. We can then take a claw grip as we climb up into mount. The side body triangle makes it hard for them to turn into us making it easier for us to keep their arm across our center so we can get to a head and arm grip from mount. This allows us to threaten an arm triangle, retake the back, or lock up variations of katagatame such as a farce. When you compare this to just crossing your feet on the far hip when climbing up into mount, you will still probably end up in mount but LIMI says he has found it harder to keep their arm across your center so you can go into immediate attacks. The side body triangle gives us the ability to use the back take vs pinning dilemma very effectively and gives you a greater ability to attack from mount when you get there.
06:25 - When attacking from the back with a body triangle, we now have great control with our lower body giving us the ability to be more aggressive with our upper body so we can play with double overhooks. Double overhooks gives us the ability to threaten the RNC with either arm as we neck pummel to get under their chin or at least get a deep strangle arm in place. LIMI says his goal is to get his top arm as the strangle arm which will likely mean the defender will take a 2 on 1 grip on his bottom arm to prevent him from locking up the RNC. LIMI then props up on his elbow and brings his hand behind the defender's head to break that 2 on 1 grip so he can lock up the RNC for the finish. However, when propping up on his elbow their is space for the defender to get their back to the mat to escape. Therefore, this method is particularly effective when he have a side body triangle in place as the side body triangle makes it hard for the defender to get their back to the mat to exploit the space.
